View Full Version : Number one reason to buy vBulletin
Mike54 26th February 2005, 08:27 PM OK, here is a variation on the "5 reasons not to buy vBulletin" thread.
What is your number one reason to buy vBulletin?
For those that have used other BB software, what was the top reason you made the switch?
For those that have never used anything but vBulletin, what sold you on that choice?
I came to vBulletin after 9 months or so of phpBB. After shopping around for something better, vB was my choice because of simplicity and flexibility. phpBB did the job, but vB does it so much better. And easier, too.

Schizoid Man 26th February 2005, 08:49 PM I did 3 years with IPB (still got a licence too) and also did quite a few phpBB sites for friends during that time.
Reasons I left IPB? Well.....how much time you got? :D
Couch 26th February 2005, 10:20 PM Still got 2 phpBB sites. Reason I got it for my new forum was flexiblity, I had a good look around on vb.org to see what was available.
acers 26th February 2005, 10:30 PM No1 reason : some superb hacks and grt looking themes. Now IPB has it too but i always liked the much more stable look that Vbulletin gives with themes.
But really its personal preference in the end.

I do noy agree with your reason :P, at first there is no great looking theme without paying for it and personally I like phpbb styles better.
But: vbulletins options rock and hacking does rock too. :)
Quincy Wisdom 27th February 2005, 01:33 AM I admined phpbb forums for about a year, and was a member of several vbulletin forums...eventually, I just couldn't take it any longer :D
Floris 27th February 2005, 02:26 AM vBulletin had everything I did not find in the other packages, including price/value, proper support, security, flexibility, proper coding , etc.

That's the one thing I don't like about vBulletin is how most skins are paid and not free. Then again, it makes me bring out my creativity (the little that I have).

BRC2 18th March 2005, 05:45 AM Simply and excellent product (comprised of great features & support).
maggie 20th March 2005, 04:15 PM I worked with a UBB forum, and heard about nothing but bandwidth issues... when I considered starting a new site, I went looking for alternatives (I had no idea how many were out there, I was told that UBB was "it"!) I spent some time looking around, and while I know that there are others that like other choices, I've never regretted mine and have gladly passed the recommendation along... :)
lighter 20th March 2005, 11:37 PM Tried IPB in the past, and changed to VB when they became a paid forum.
