As some know, my web site is not public because of the business I run and the questions I have are readable in public. Sorry! I hope you understand.

Our forum has a strict staff setup and majority of the positions are people hired, they signed a contract and a none disclosure agreement and we never run into any problems.

Unfortunatly most recently one of our respected staff members turned his mood upside down for unknown reasons and started to be cocky towards our customers, misbehave by swearing in public and abusing his priviledges by taking customer avatars (we all have 1 avatar for the staff) and no don't allow signatures but he suddenly started to have one.

When we tried to discuss the situation he told us to stfu (which I found out wasn't a nice acronym) and deleted the threads we started.

As this particular person is not by contract but with us since the start, I am in dubio to just remove him from our staff or just his priviledges for the time being or completly ban him or present him a contract+nda if he wants to continue be on our staff.

What do you think I should do?

Your business is first and foremost. Tell him that he has been removed from his position due to the incompatabilities in views and you wish him the best.

definately remove him from any and all staff positions... if he continues to cause problems, then you may have to ban him.
as reeve said, your business, its image, and your customers come first.

I totally agree. I mean, you did try to talk to him and he didn't want to explain himself.

I don't know how close you guys are but you could phone him and ask him if he has an explanation. Perhaps someone like his son is abusing his account?

I think it is time to approach this person and point out the violations that have been made. I agree with Floris, the person should be given an opportunity to explain, if someone has been maliciously using that account, but if there is no explanation forthcoming, then you need to remove the moderator privileges from that account.

You've customers that you need to protect from these types of abuses. It sounds as if you have rules in place and you need to exercise them.

Rules and regualtions for normal users, should apply to all the mods as well. Keeps them in check.
