Did you ever hire a user to actually come to your site once per day and spend at least 1 hour doing work so the site stays fresh, fixed and whatnot? And then pay the guy (or girl) for the hour he worked?
Where can you even find such a person? And how do you suggest to handle a contract perhaps?

I've never heard of it myself. God knows how many boards I've babysat over the years cos the owners were going to be away for long periods.
I've got one (IPB) that I've been looking after since last May as the guy went off on a RTW trip.
And another one (vB) that I permanently admin for a good friend cos he's not that techie.
Plus my own site (vB)....oh and my son's Games Forum (IPB). And I'm sure I've left one out! :D
Everybody knows somebody who'll help them out surely? :)

I only know of vBulletin.com :) As its a commercial product (their own in this case hehe) that they are selling, they have trained staff doing professional support for free. THese staff members are hired by contract. Like me. So in that case they have hired staff members.

I've done it in the past, my contract included a NDA (so I can't talk much about the site itself)
However it included upgrades, style changes, some basic moderation untill they were ready for it, backing up the files and database on a regular baisis.
You'd think it'd be the easist job. But I've gone 2 months without doing anything for them and then do a 36 hour work shift in order to get them where they wanted :)

There are many sites that hire staff members, especially the bigger more successful companies.
