How come hivemail is such an expensive program - vbulletin was expensive for me (we have a small forums with 70+ members and 10,000+ posts).

These companies in my view know how to charge, but they do know how to make good software.

How come there is not more of a variety of distributions?

Well I now have an owned licence with Vbulletin, but that will be the last bitm of money spent on my site for a while! :D

Glad you decided to purchase vBulletin. Yeah, I don't know why HiveMail is so expansive, thankfully I got my copy for $25 during a sale. :)

vBulletin.... reasonable priced, and amazing :)

Hivemail is amazing, and it works great, and has great support. I got my copy during a sale too, however it still is an awsome product to have. It is expensive because keeping something like that up-to-date takes a lot of time and effort, and that should not be expected for free.

Chen told me it was a one time thing. But they had a few sales after that too nevertheless, just not for such a low amount.

Nope, as development is quite slow (as it at least appears to me that way), I've lost track of what is going on there. Perhaps you could buy it second hand from a marketplace?
