As vB.com seems to be either dead or close to it at the moment... I thought I should ask my qn here...

I am shortly about to turn on the calendar functionality on my forum so that my members can post details about their concerts and events etc. I think I am happy to allow all of my members to post their events etc, but is there a way that I can moderate all of the sumbissions before they are shown in the calendar...?

That should be a standard option in your Calendar options man.

There is a group called 'moderations' in the ACP with the option 'moderate events', so I think you can allow users to post in a calendar at your choice and moderate those events.
