View Full Version : Footer Problem
david 24th September 2004, 08:40 PM I just got Vbulletin and was making an adjustment to the "Footer" when I lost my internent conection.
Now I have no "Footer" code and am getting an error if I try to add a footer... What I need is the orginal "Footer" code for Vbulletin
Error Code
Sorry, you can not remove the vBulletin copyright text using this page.
You must use the main template editor to do this, if your licence allows you to remove the vBulletin copyright text.
Thanks
Floris 24th September 2004, 08:46 PM You can select the template 'footer' and then click on 'revert' so it will restore the original code.
david 24th September 2004, 08:53 PM Hello Flooris
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Unfortunately that option you are talking about is not there. The box is completely blank. If I try and add any code there , I get an error
The forum still look correct but is missing the footer that includes the Vbulletin information. Do you know where I could get the code to get things going again?
Floris 24th September 2004, 08:59 PM Ah, then you loaded 'commen templates', try this:
Admin Control Panel > Styles & Templates > Style Manager > show all templates by expanding the groups, select the footer and click on revert.
david 24th September 2004, 09:14 PM Hello Floris
Once again thanks for the advice. I looked in the Style manager, and did not find "Footer" option, thus I clicked on "revert all templates", thus loosing the work I did. This is no big deal as I just got going.
Even after doing this, I have no "Code" in the footer box if I click on
Style manager > Comman Templates
Any suggestions?
The way the page looks right now

I had a right nav and a proper header but I will redo that shortly
Floris 24th September 2004, 09:23 PM There is a [<< >>] icon at the end of the row of options, click it, it will expand the template groups.
david 24th September 2004, 09:41 PM Dear Florris
I guess Iam being a bit of a pain but something is not adding up
I went to the Style Manager > Edit Templates and clicked on [<< >>]
Below was a list that that ranged from "Activate Form" to "Who's online Templates"
Under "F" for "Footer" I have the following options
Faq Templates
Forum Display
Forumdisplay_anouncement
""_loggedinuser
""_moderator
""_sortarrow
Forum Home Templates
forumjump
forumrules
Below that I can edit the Header and many other things
I just redid the Header and added Google "Adsence" to the forum but am still having no luck with getting the good old footer back!!!
If I go to Style manger > common templates... the footer spot still does not had any code!
Do I have you stumped????;)
Floris 25th September 2004, 03:00 AM That is really strange, sounds like it got into the database corrupt and therefor isn't showing.
It should show below FAQ group.
Could you please create a new style, set parent to 'none' and see if that new style has the footer template?
david 25th September 2004, 05:04 PM Good morning Florris
I hate to say it but I am unsure how to create a new style. What do I do?
I tried going into the Style manager > All Style Options and see the footer code is still missing.
Is there any place on the web that I can just get the "footer code" and copy and paste it into the footer box?
David

I did a bit of reading and found out how to make a new style.
I clicked on Style manager > Add New Style >
Left drop down as "No Parent Style"
Title: Footer Test
Allow user selection: yes
After doing this I went back and clicked on the "Footer Test" style and see that I have no footer.
When I click "GO" I see code in the header section, headinclude and phpinclude_start but not in the "Footer section", it is still blank
Needless to say I appricate the help but am getting a bit frustrated.
This is what my forum looks like at this time:

As you can see... we have no footer !

Brian 25th September 2004, 08:32 PM Hi david,
Go check out your forumhome template see whether you have this code
$footer
david 26th September 2004, 02:14 AM Hello
I checked out the "Forum Home" template and see the following code in the last few lines
<!-- / icons and login code -->
$footer
</body>
<html>
any other ideas as there is no code in the footer in the main templates.

Brian 26th September 2004, 05:09 AM No ideal though, because to me, its totally impossible.
Anyway all I can say is, if you want, I can help you to fix it. But I need access to your admincp (to get a clearly picture of it), if you got no problem with this then just simply sent me the details and I’ll process it.
Please note that my time is very limited, so please let me know ASAP.
david 26th September 2004, 04:18 PM Hello SchuczIt would be wonderful if you could take a closer look at our footer problem.... do you need my user name and password to log onto Vbulletin??
David
Floris 26th September 2004, 04:43 PM I advise against this. You can't confirm this user has a valid license or not.
We offer low level support, if that is not enough then please goto vBulletin.com and get professional support for your licensed vBulletin.
Brian 26th September 2004, 04:51 PM Nope. I don't need that, what I need is
1. Your forum URL
2. Admincp access
And thats it.
david 26th September 2004, 04:52 PM Hello Florris
Thanks for letting me know. I guess I will not send them our user name and password.
Could you tell me if there is a file that I could simply re add to my server to get my "footer issue" resolved as I really would like to get this problem solved.
By the way, other than the missing "footer" does the page look ok as I see there is a "error" message on my screen in the bottom left corner of the web browser?

Brian 26th September 2004, 06:35 PM *I'm in lost, totally lost - Where am I now?"
Actually I've a lot to say, but somehow I felt that everything is pointless to me now. Maybe I shouldn't be here (As a busybody or whatsoever), and should just let this never ending question contiunes.
Let it be, let it be..
david 26th September 2004, 06:40 PM Hello Schucz
I appreciate that you are trying to help and am trying to set up some admin aspects for you so you can help me further. As I just got Vbulleten the other day, I am still learning the ropes.
I just don't understand why I can find a bit of code to put in the "Footer box" that will restore the code to its orginal state... then I can adjust the code to add my footer while maintaining the Vbulletin copyrite information !
David
Brian 26th September 2004, 07:17 PM David, I don’t expect much but just hope you can clarify this with the public,
Did I ever ask for your "vBulletin license info”?
You must know the difference between this and "admincp".
floris might have overlooked a few threads back, but you should know what's going on actually before knocking your head. Simple as that. ;)
david 26th September 2004, 08:20 PM Hello SchuczI am sorry that I may have made a mistake in how I responded to your request for admin privillages to get my "footer" problem resolved!
I am sure you could get things going for us ASAP :D
Tell me what you need to get things going... I created a user profile for you at
http://www.thepetprofessor.com/forum/index.php?
Schucz
Schucz1 (password) with User Group Administrator status...
will this be enough to get things going???
