Floris 24th September 2004, 03:41 PM Do you use paid subscriptions? If so, what for? Sam 26th September 2004, 10:49 PM sorry i really dont understand what they are, i have seen it in my admincp davey- 2nd October 2004, 04:09 PM It's like making a usergroup where members have to pay money to subscribe to it. You could have this usergroup get access to special features, post in special forums, perhaps make them be able to download attachments / images from special forums, but they must be a 'paying' customer first. Personally, no I don't use it. But I could think of a few reasons to (i.e., if you create a personal hack which isn't available to the public, you could make users subscribe to use it because perhaps it cost a lot of money to make it, or you don't feel it should be just 'free' to use. A lot of people would probably use this as a method to pay off their bandwidth costs, but personally I don't see a need to, as of yet. So my vote is 'No, not yet.' Disjunto 11th October 2004, 09:57 AM /me resurects thread due to it being in "new threads" page (damn polls) i dont use them as i have no need, my site has nothing to offer anyone any extra and most the members will not fork over any cash to get some features they use at the moment :) HiDeo 11th October 2004, 06:32 PM Yes, I use paid subscriptions for services about vBulletin ! manguish 12th October 2004, 11:06 AM We offer a increased beneift scheme for donating users. Only charge £10 per year tho' and the cash goes towards server hosting. Any spares get used for stickers etc for member giveaways. Lord Brar 12th October 2004, 02:25 PM ;) I will be offering it as soon as I feel that I can provide REAL value with the PAID membership! Robert 13th October 2004, 10:59 AM I don't as yet, but will be bringing it in. I have a number of advertisers who wish to promote their wears on my site so think it only fair that they pay to promote. Daniel C 20th October 2004, 10:26 PM yea right now i don't use it on my site but I'm considering using it soon. marty21 8th November 2004, 02:50 AM i don't pay for any of the sites i use regularly by subscription, but i do send donations occasionally to 3 of them, the odd tenner every 6 months/a year ambumann 11th November 2004, 07:31 PM ;) I will be offering it as soon as I feel that I can provide REAL value with the PAID membership! My thoughts exactly. ;) philosophyweb 13th November 2004, 07:17 PM a little caviot (warning) you will get a few threads saying people will donate but never will but the donations really help out the site. i was able to pay for some custom php jobs which helps out our forum. i have an option for $25/yr and if only 6 people donate for that time it covers the hosting fees. one of the features i have for a donation is a private area with less rules and more stuff there and a custom avatar. there are other benifits as well John_DP 24th December 2004, 08:39 AM Yes, we currently use the paid subscription feature on our site. Chroder 24th December 2004, 09:01 AM We don't yet, but are exploring possible benefits for our members. John_DP, I feel like I'm following you around :p Every time you reply, I'm right after! teamrocketman 26th December 2004, 05:08 PM I use them for people willing to support our site. I just say all it gives them is a warm fuzzy feeling. 1996 328ti 15th January 2005, 10:03 AM I use them for people willing to support our site. I just say all it gives them is a warm fuzzy feeling.Same here. people have been offering to help pay for hosting. I have a $10 sponsorship where I make their title 'supporter', their name in red and allow them to use the photo gallery. I have just about enough money to cover one year of hosting. ...steven www.318ti.org (http://www.318ti.org) Pie 15th January 2005, 10:08 AM On a few sites. I have one on my sites for 'Pro' accounts. Info about the upcoming features, exclusive only things and extra features. Only one person has done it yet in the 4ish years we been up. vau7 18th January 2005, 03:16 AM I think about using it for some donations. But i dont know much about the lawthing with this in germany. Kaizer-Fish 25th January 2005, 04:41 PM Nope, never will. I will maje an affordable forum so NOBODY feels left out:\ tilight 21st February 2005, 04:01 AM Nope, I won't ever for my current site. But I have an idea for a new site which I might used paid subscriptions. But if I do use them I will edit them to the way I want them (one-time fee). DarkWarriorXII 21st February 2005, 04:40 AM On the forum I'm about to set up I won't use them. Maybe if we grow enough I'll incorporate them, but in the beginning it just makes you look greedy. SilverDennis 23rd February 2005, 05:46 PM No, don't use it .. maby in the future i will.... But before i'll use that, i first have to think of something i can offer the members hehe... Freezer 23rd February 2005, 08:55 PM I do use them, and users are happy with it. I offer them some extra's and attachment space :) Mephisteus 23rd February 2005, 08:56 PM No, don't use it .. maby in the future i will.... But before i'll use that, i first have to think of something i can offer the members hehe... Plenty to think off, custom avatars/usertitles, access to restricted forums. Depending on what else you have on your forum you can add that (for example the arcade, normally people have to make 5 posts a day to use it, if you pay you don't have to make 5 posts a day). Plenty of things from the top of my head :) Floris 24th February 2005, 12:28 AM Nearly 25 votes for 'no not yet', so that means more and more people are getting interested, hopefully next year the number is shifted to .. yes, and loving it. :) |
