Do you use paid subscriptions?

It's like making a usergroup where members have to pay money to subscribe to it. You could have this usergroup get access to special features, post in special forums, perhaps make them be able to download attachments / images from special forums, but they must be a 'paying' customer first.
Personally, no I don't use it. But I could think of a few reasons to (i.e., if you create a personal hack which isn't available to the public, you could make users subscribe to use it because perhaps it cost a lot of money to make it, or you don't feel it should be just 'free' to use. A lot of people would probably use this as a method to pay off their bandwidth costs, but personally I don't see a need to, as of yet. So my vote is 'No, not yet.'

i dont use them as i have no need, my site has nothing to offer anyone any extra and most the members will not fork over any cash to get some features they use at the moment :)

Yes, I use paid subscriptions for services about vBulletin !

We offer a increased beneift scheme for donating users.

Only charge £10 per year tho' and the cash goes towards server hosting. Any spares get used for stickers etc for member giveaways.

I don't as yet, but will be bringing it in. I have a number of advertisers who wish to promote their wears on my site so think it only fair that they pay to promote.

i don't pay for any of the sites i use regularly by subscription, but i do send donations occasionally to 3 of them, the odd tenner every 6 months/a year

a little caviot (warning) you will get a few threads saying people will donate but never will but the donations really help out the site. i was able to pay for some custom php jobs which helps out our forum. i have an option for $25/yr and if only 6 people donate for that time it covers the hosting fees. one of the features i have for a donation is a private area with less rules and more stuff there and a custom avatar. there are other benifits as well

I have a $10 sponsorship where I make their title 'supporter', their name in red and allow them to use the photo gallery. I have just about enough money to cover one year of hosting.

I have one on my sites for 'Pro' accounts. Info about the upcoming features, exclusive only things and extra features. Only one person has done it yet in the 4ish years we been up.

Nope, I won't ever for my current site. But I have an idea for a new site which I might used paid subscriptions. But if I do use them I will edit them to the way I want them (one-time fee).

On the forum I'm about to set up I won't use them. Maybe if we grow enough I'll incorporate them, but in the beginning it just makes you look greedy.

Plenty to think off, custom avatars/usertitles, access to restricted forums. Depending on what else you have on your forum you can add that (for example the arcade, normally people have to make 5 posts a day to use it, if you pay you don't have to make 5 posts a day).

Nearly 25 votes for 'no not yet', so that means more and more people are getting interested, hopefully next year the number is shifted to .. yes, and loving it. :)
