I am trying to figure out the best way to get the word out for my forum. I run an RPG forum which is good for the gaming community. However, I need many more users. It pretty much runs on its owna dn I do not have to do much. I have added a bunch of mods to it and it currently looks pretty cool.

I have submitted it to search engines.
Anybody have other ideas to bring the people?

The phrase "Build it and they will come" does not work here.

Get yourself some banners for your forum, you could pay for advertising. Though I suggest mouth-to-mouth advertising, which brings quality in quantity. Just spread the word!

Unfortunately, it is a hobby site and I make no money from it. I would rather not sink money into something that does not make me any.

my suggestion would be also instead of submitting to search engines, look for directories to submit your site to. there are a lot of directories on the internet, you just have to search!

It seems to me that any one suggestion would not be the best way to go. Perhaps a little of all suggestions.

Place your URL in your signature link, invest in advertisement. Hold competitions and share articles where they link back to your own site. Get linked up on competition sites and submit to search engine index spiders to let them crawl your site for content.
