i use satellite for TV only.
Internet satellite (my opinion) is not enough stable to be use like i use internet.
I saw and installed many many satellite internet system, everyone was happy to use that system, BUT, it's very limited. You have a cota, like 5 gigs of download, 1 gigs of upload per months, and every gigs you transfer after, is like 9$ (in canadian money). It cost 80 $ per month, you have to buy the system (500 $) and pay for the installation, which is 400 $. You get 500 Kb/s in download, 50 Kb/s in upload. Is A WAY to expensive at the moment.
It exist another kind on "internet by satellite". It use micro-wave, and transfer at blazing speed, 3000 Kb/s (yes, you read correctly) and a small 150 Kb/s in upload. Is turn around 50 ~ 60 per month, depends where you live, far or close from the antenna.

I agree with you. I am quite happy with my 300kb/s download speed on cable - and it is stable enough to stay online 24/7. Which is what I seek for in broadband. I have cable TV too here, but only about 30 channels. (stupid dutch...2!@%!) I wouldn't mind satelite tv!

If you can grab some "free air" system, It's something like 500 $ each receiver, but they are modified to access ANY satellite.
You pay one time 500 $ .. and you will never pay for tv again. The only thing is you need to get you antenna install correctly.
By the way, my origin are from Netherlands. :D

The dutch language pack is very nice. Although I have more than minimal dutch knowledge, it's been worked on very nicely.
