I know this wont happen, but really, what would you do? Just be satisfied with your current version, or join a rally to get Vbulliten to create new versions?

I would sign the protest papers and march outside of the developers homes while organizing sit ins.

It would never happen because we have a large community that would probably take up the slack and release new updates and I don't suspect Jelsoft would ever do that anyways.

Jelsoft will only cease support and development IF it the community drops or the sales go in the dirt. It's just the worst case scenario, but even then they will struggle and come out with a product with better features and stuff. In any case, Jelsoft lives!

Someone would buy the company. It will not go away for a long time.

Well, as has been said, it would never happen. They know their onto a good thing. Even if they did, it'd soon be picked up by another company of group. It's happened in the past.

I would sign a protest papers, and I will stay with the last versions because only others forums are so good ;)

I would just use the latest version, and if security issues become public, I will manually patch them. I know sites that are very big and a good success, and they run on 2.0 of vBulletin, not even 2.3 .. let alone 3.0 - So I doubt it will be a problem. A stable product is a stable product.
