View Full Version : Did vBulletin scare you the first time you got in the control panel? DarknessDivine 3rd August 2004, 04:56 AM It did me....I was afraid I'd break something..lol...Of course I came from places like ezboard and so on...the only other I had actually used was phpBB... timekeeper 3rd August 2004, 09:35 AM lol, I know what you're talking about, I was like, Soo many options, it took a few minutes, and some help from friend to setup CATEGORIES, and skins & templates. But now, I'm grateful for the features and flexiblity. Zachery 3rd August 2004, 09:47 AM Nope, i did not even have a dev board for the longest time, i just went along hacking and editing :) Disjunto 3rd August 2004, 10:49 AM ahhh i remember switching from the superb phpBB to vBulletin, i didn't have a clue what i was doing since i was new to running a website at the time aswell. It came on me quickly so it wasn't that hard. The most annoying point was vB2 to vB3 ACP, they look nearly the same but everything had moved and it took me ages to find th right thing :) Daniel P 3rd August 2004, 11:20 AM Same as zachery. No complications with dev board and such, since I was sure I knew what I was doing :) Traveler 4th August 2004, 03:04 AM I was kinda scare to do anything in mine but I had someone to help me out and he told me to stay out and leave it alone LOL just kidding , he didn't tell me to say out. I've learned a lot with his help Reeve of Shinra 7th August 2004, 12:00 AM At first I was like "bleep where the hell is everything" but it didnt take long to figure it all out. Tony 7th August 2004, 04:38 AM The CP was pretty straightforward when I first saw one for vBulletin version 1. My knowledge of it just grew from there. ja3 7th August 2004, 06:59 PM Yes, it scared me and it is still scaring :p. I think it has to many options for me to use. When there is egg. a forum permission wrong you must look in the group permissions and user permissions. So it takes a lot of time to set the forum permissions right :) But its also nicer because if you need that future :) it doesn't need hacking :p Lord Brar 14th August 2004, 05:58 AM Yeah yeah.... I had a paramedics team standing right next to me when I tried to log-in for the first time! I don't think that vB has anything to get scared of... It certainly has one of the finest backend that I hav ever seen! SaN-DeeP 15th August 2004, 09:13 AM HAHAHAHHA very good post. Yes it did scared me out. :P we were using invision in past and seeing the wonderful world of vbulletin shocked/thrilled me for a moment ;) Hobbierz 17th August 2004, 11:34 PM :), I would have to say it did . The very first time I laid eyes on a vBulletin 2.2.x Admin Control Panel, I was more than freaked out . Seeing all these Admin features that I had heard about .. , it was surreal ( i guess) . I suppose for some, it was no surprise and they just jumped right on in :p (ie Zach ;)) mystery250 18th August 2004, 01:59 AM I used the DEMO version, to see the control panel, it is SIMPLE! Almost anyone can use it. Daniel C 18th August 2004, 06:03 PM Nope never scared me EVER :) nxT 20th August 2004, 12:28 PM naahh! Its simple, it was no surprise :p Daniel P 20th August 2004, 01:24 PM It really depends on how the user feels. Some say it's complicated, some say it's dead easy. DarknessDivine 20th August 2004, 04:10 PM Well since it was my first really "full control" bulletin board that's why it scared me. I in the past was used to things like Ezboard and so on, I had tried phpBB for like a month b4 coming to vBulletin..So yeah it did freak me out for sure...lmao nxT 20th August 2004, 11:18 PM It really depends on how the user feels. Some say it's complicated, some say it's dead easy. Exactly, Who never used any other board for them its complicated, but who used other board for them its kinda easy. And vb userfriendly :) philosophyweb 25th August 2004, 07:23 PM i was not scared i just had to figure out that there was 3 places that i needed to edit for the approprate desired action to take place after all you can always start fresh Floris 30th August 2004, 04:38 PM It didn't scare me, but I was overwhelmed, I couldn't find some simple things at first, because I had no idea where I could expect to find it. But the vBulletin.com support staff was great and helped me with my newbie questions and after a day of jumping up and down of 'Oh, can it do that too?' I got the hang of it. |
