From file uploads, to customization (Forums, Usergroups, Minor Settings), how long has it taken you?

I had to reinstall my forums about 3 times, and each time it was fast and easy, because all I had to do was upload the files and run /install/install.php. And setting up the forums took about another 30 mins, and I'm done! I only have 1 custom usergroup, and thats for Staff.

lol no i mean like a system where the Customer puts in ftp login details & dir / sql info. Then vB system will auto upload & setup everything.

This Saving the time to download then reupload & also install problems
Im sure the same could be done for upgrading no ?

For a new installation (clean site, no previous data), the process takes less than an hour including the upload, db config and basic customization. Of course I don't consider a site configured until the templates are modified, the options are set, forums are created and properly seeded... until this point a forum should not be open as it is certainly not usable.

For upgrades the process (since vb3) has been very simple, a few minutes to apply the upgrade, a half hour to redo my hacks.

The file upload process differs per connection.

That can be 1 minute (if you download from the server directly onto the web server)
or it can be up to 10 minutes for dailup users.

Going through config.php(.new) takes at most a minute.

Running install.php can be done in a minute - but generally it will be up to 5, if you read carefully and make sure you haven't made mistakes.

Setting up the categories, forums, etc and permissions can take up to an hour.

I always spend a whole afternoon or night working on a fresh install, from 0 to 100% - because I test permissions and things like that. Prepare announcements, etc.

But in theory, downloading, setting up and installing vbulletin should be around 30 minutes tops.
