Never, i create a forum that i allow free advertising (http://www.microsoftliveforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=21)in.
When spammers signup, they post in that forum, and i just prune any threads i don/t want there selectively...

I haven't built a forum yet, so I haven't had the problem yet. Now, spam in my email, that's an entirely different story. I get that all the time. :(

A long time ago on my first forum when I wasn't sure how to handle things I got a spam attack, it was just some random jokers but I just deleted my whole forum.

I rarely get spam since I've been using vBulletin's CAPTCHA. :D

vB's captcha keeps most of the spammers at bay. On WMT we still get spam regularly from people submitting it manually. A ban solves that problem, though :)

Rarely but it has happened. Usually just the same user. One apparently had some vendetta against me and created user names stating how much he hated me and spammed my forum diary. I think he finally got bored. It's been a few months and I haven't seen him since.

I've only had issues with bot spammers on my contact form, which I disabled a little whiel ago. Besides that I've only been facing a lot of people who apparently got upset by someone on our forum and started spamming the board - this also tends to happen a lot when people get a banishment. Usually it's easy to spot, making it no very big deal at all

*sob - I just typed a long message, clicked submit, and the board timed out! :( *

Right, abridged post now...

I was getting 100's a day but installed Isbot (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=135094) and spam as all but stopped on both forums I run... Brilliant hack.

That said, I've found that Xrumer is getting a bit smarter and some slip through the timed pages... Spam is ever present, we just need to squash it when/as it appears!

Spamming is not a problem in my forum beacuse i have 35 forum staff so they check the Threads if they have spam from the first minute.
