Do you believe in back links of your websites get good PR or popularity in search engine? Most SEO's think the more the linkbacks the better the PR and SERP's which is one of the most biggest rumours going around in the world of SEO.

I prefer back links. They are the option that seemed to have worked best for me both for my own personal sites as well as ones that I was site staff at. Usually the sites linked to bigger sites (or my own members placed links to my sites in their signatures when they joined other sites) and Google as well as a few other search engines picked up on it right away.

I hope reading this (http://www.webproguide.com/articles/Google-PageRank-Update-Analysis/) may clear up some things.

They're only good so long as they're natural back links. Matt Cutts from Google has suggested multiple times that Google is cracking down on paid links and will be penalizing the sites that purchase them - so perhaps it'd be best staying away from purchasing links for now.
