I wonder how many hosts you have swaped during your hosting life?

I think, I've switched hosts maybe a maximum of three times. I've never really needed anything beyond shared hosting... I do see me needing to look for a VPS in the future, but may not happen until sometime next year.

I have had about 9 hosts. Generally I have a host, then a problem comes up and they are either slow or unable to fix it. So I move hosts in a temper. Everything works fine, it breaks then I move again.

I think I have now moved for the last time, am with LayeredTech, but we shall see. :)

I've swapped between a few, and upgraded as well. Every time it's a major hassle, and I've finally started moving things back to a host I know I can trust and stay with for a good long time.

I've gone from shared hosting to a VPS from Steadfast Networks, then a dedicated server at DedicatedNOW (which I don't recommend), and then a dedicated server at LayeredTech, and now finally a dedicated server back at Steadfast Networks.

I generally stay at a host for a good long time, even if I have a major problem. Each time I have moved I have needed to upgrade (well, partially at DedicatedNOW: their network was so horrid I had to get out of there). Steadfast has been my favorite company, with their excellent network, great support staff, and attractive options for expansion (tons of servers, colocation, cabinets, etc).

It depends. If you have swaped it thrice for half a year I'd say it's not little.

Any reason as to why? And who were they? I'm looking for a reliable host and would love to know which ones to avoid.

About 4 total, not because of bad hosting or bad support, but due to pricing and personal needs.
Hostrocket

The Planet

Moving servers is such pain in the bum, I'd choose someone who'll give me quality service and opportunity to upgrade each time you need it.

I have changed them because of the poor services. I had much downtime, they didn't answer my tickets for a long while. But now I'm happy with my present host (********.biz).

Probably about 2 or 3, but currently I have had the same one for 2-3 years and it has been working great.

First hosting company was a company called MyAcen. Then there were two more I used that I can't recall the name for. Then I switched to A Small Orange. Then to HostMaven, and now I'm at ServInt.

So 6 :D

Never swapped, I have two because I had different ideas in mind choosing them, onthespothosting.net and webhostingbuzz.com.

lol, it's better to spend a few bucks and get some rest.
To saskia are you using both onthespothosting.net services now? How's their support?
To Ganz that's really good you are happy with ********.biz services, are you on their shared plan?

www.web-mania.com good, but not enough resources at the time
- can't remember, moved because they went out of business and took my site with them

- can't remember, moved because they went out of business and took my site with them

- can't remember, moved because they went out of business and took my site with them

Finally learnt to stay away from 'budget' hosts and went to

Soulhosts who were great but then were bought by

Incipio who were ok, but kept only office hours support and they being in Ohio and I being the UK, our office hours didn't mesh... Site would go down and I'd have to wait until 2pm local time before anyone picked up a phone there.

Then REALLY learnt my lesson about using resellers and bought my own VPS (now dedicated) at Liquidweb.

So, in the first 4 of 7 years I've had 6 hosts... Been with Liquidweb for 3 years now and will never ever move again! Infact, I've bought 4 more servers with them since... Me huggles Liquidweb

********.biz is a scamming business, if you are a customer on their account I recommend to move away from them.
