We host our own, now, but a few years ago we were using other places to host. I started out with AOL about 12 years ago, then moved to GeoCities (which became Yahoo after 3-4 years). We got our own server about 5 years ago.

Using A Small Orange to host TNT at the moment. After my period is finished (I paid in advanced), I will probably move to a new one since the service has been deteriating for the last 6 months or so. I've heard good things (well, at least not bad things) about HostMaven which is run by our very own Tyler -- I may give him a try :)

I also bought 1 year of hosting at DreamHost just to try out because I found a coupon code that would bring down the cost to $30 ;) I've got a few miscalenous things there. I like it, but not sure about the reliability. They're a huge host but have lots of negative comments about them, but big sites like Simplebits and Hak5 use them and they seem to work well.

I am using a respectable hosting provider to get the most out of our site :)

I use a hosting service and have never tried hosting my own but maybe someday I'll look into it.

I'm using Tyler's service (HostMaven (http://www.hostmaven.com)) -- so far no issues and the customer service has been very good and worth it (the price isn't bad either)! :D

I prefer (used to) buying web hosting packages.

well I sell hosting.. so with my profits, I have my own dedicated server for my sites. it’s a hell of alot better, and I utterly recommend it.

You have complete control, no restrictions what so ever.

Currently we're hosted on a dedicated server of a sponsor, though I lack control over it - it's basically shared hosting. Hopefully the advertising income will go up soon so we can finally rent our own server, nothing beats full control over your server!

I use hosting from Emedianow.com. It's very cheap and their support works all right.

I don't think anyone will 'give' you hosting if you don't even provide info about what you'd need it for etc...

Having had APPAULING support/uptime issues in the past with 'promise the world' hosts, I learned quite quickly that you do definitely get what you pay for in hosting.

After losing content about 2 or 3 times with rubbish hosts, we finally found LiquidWeb (thanks WHT and TAZ!) and haven't looked back since. We started with a VPS1, out grew it and upgraded to VPS2 and out grew that... We are now on full dedicated and running fine!

The money is frightening, especially if you aren't pulling an income from the forums, but if you can afford it, you really will see a difference.

I use a hosting service but if my site takes off I'd like to get a server and do it myself...but I don't know how.

I use www.stusplace.co.uk (http://www.stusplace.co.uk) it's been brilliant thus far and a reasonable rate too.
