And with that I mean, which functions would you remove from vBulletin for freshly registered - 0posting members? What things do you think newbies don't need from a vb powered forum, but are more things for regular posters that are more familiar with the forum?
Because I was thinking of simplifying it for newcomers.

nothing, all my members deserve the same treatment unless they are special, and then they get bigger than default avatars and a custom usertitle :P

And with that I mean, which functions would you remove from vBulletin for freshly registered - 0posting members? Lots!
For newbies: PMs, still pondering multiquote--maybe remove it for newbs, maybe turn it off entirely,
Entirely: Reputation, thread rating, style options, the two big "Post reply" buttons at the top and bottom of the thread display (I also make hybrid the default thread view), post icons, thinking about turning off quick reply.
Make Visible to staff only: Forum stats, WOL, Post counts, Join date, most of the non-optional stuff in the membership list,
Also, in the navbar, "FAQ" "User CP" and "Quick Links" get renamed to "Help" "My Settings" and "Tools" (not thrilled about "tools" but can come up with anything better).
I have never seen the Calendar used for anything of value, so I am thinking about removing that--may reserve it for staff use.
I've pro'lly forgotten somethings, but that's it for now.

vBulletin can be quite intimidating for new users. Removing things like quick reply (in favor of the 'Post Reply' form) and the quick reply multiquote buttons in the postbit -- would simplify the interface and make things less confusing.

I use almost all the time too, especially now you can click those little up/down arrows to make the box bigger.
But I still do use the full editor from time to time (though usually by clicking 'Go Advanced').
