I've thought about approaching hosts for 'sponsorship' since a lot of our members have 'Work at home' businesses with websites.
But, having looked into it, I wouldn't want to rely on a relationship that could just end if it wasn't profitable for the host. So, a happy medium I've found is to use hosting affiliate accounts.
I've found that Lunarpages (http://www.lunarpages.com) who pays US$65 and Liquidweb (http://liquidweb.com/refer/index.cgi) who pays US$60 per account. Which isn't much when I'm paying $350 a month in hosting, but every penny helps! I've also found that using things like Power Link Generator (http://powerlinkgenerator.com/?id=tokenyank) helps because instead of sending my users to http://www.liquidweb.com/index.html?rid=confident, I can use the software to rewrite the url to http://www.mumsonline.net/recommends/LunarPages_hosting or http://www.mumsonline.net/recommends/LiquidWeb_VPS2 which gives the impression that as a site we are recommending the host personally.
All that said, if someone like Bounty or Mothercare approached us and said for £300,000, give us your website... I'd probably trip over myself trying to get the passwords to them! :D
