View Full Version : Adding Hacks? DragonSeifer 13th July 2003, 06:03 AM So to add a hack, I need ftp right? Does anyone have any links to where I can get it? And maybe a brief run-through on how to install a hack...:D Floris 13th July 2003, 06:21 AM Some source code modifications are files that require to be uploaded. Just like the vBulletin files that you uploaded. Assuming you have a valid vbulletin license and that you have installed it on your web server, .. you have uploaded the files with an ftp client, and that is also how you do it with source code modifications. Some files need to be altered (hacked) from vbulletin, so you need to download the original vbulletin file from your web server and apply the source code changes, and upload it again, overwriting the original file that is already there. (Make sure you make a backup of it first!) valid license holders are allowed to download vbulletin source code modifications from the official vbulletin sites like vbulletin.org - and from a stupid site like this, by users who released their work here too. Most include installation instructions. A good ftp client is 'FlashFXP' (.com) Tony 13th July 2003, 09:26 AM I use CuteFTP Pro as my FTP Client. It's very nice and has plenty of features. :) Daniel P 13th July 2003, 09:51 AM Well since we're talking about FTP clients... I use Smart FTP. DCz_power 13th July 2003, 11:48 AM Well since we're talking about FTP clients... I use Smart FTP. I use WS_FTP, I like it :P Tony 13th July 2003, 01:33 PM Tried WS_FTP, it's nice. :D squall14716 13th July 2003, 03:36 PM I use CuteFTP Pro as my FTP Client. It's very nice and has plenty of features. :) I also use CuteFTP Pro. It's a great FTP client, and I like the fact that it's extremely easy to edit files with it. :) fury 13th July 2003, 05:18 PM I use CuteFTP Pro as my FTP Client. It's very nice and has plenty of features. :) What he said. I like the part about where you can skip all the files that you've already uploaded, in cases where you've got like 200 megs of files to upload and you've already uploaded 150 megs of them but got cut off because your puter died... and you don't know exactly which ones, so you just try to upload them all... with most other FTP clients you have to sit through each one and tell it "No" or "No to all" and then it skips over the files that have the same name but didn't complete. CuteFTP checks the size and stuff and asks you again whether you want to replace it or what. It pwns all other FTP clients. DragonSeifer 15th July 2003, 06:56 AM What about since I don't own the forums and didn't install them, but I'm helping a friend.... Can I still add hacks? Tony 15th July 2003, 08:20 AM I also use CuteFTP Pro. It's a great FTP client, and I like the fact that it's extremely easy to edit files with it. :) Agreed, one of my favourite features on it. :) Floris 15th July 2003, 11:33 AM If the owner of that forum has a valid vBulletin license, and he has assigned you as his administrator/webmaster and gave you the ftp details and access to mysql. Then yeah, you can. DragonSeifer 15th July 2003, 10:33 PM Ok... I gotta ask him for the FTP details...And yeah its Licensed! Thanx....again...lol Floris 31st August 2003, 12:47 PM What he said. FlashFXP has resume for upload and download - and in a smart way :) lord_moley 31st August 2003, 01:02 PM I use WS_FTP but i think i might try cuteftp and FlashFXP now. Tony 31st August 2003, 01:04 PM CuteFTP Pro does that with disconnections, but I'm not too sure if you close the program on purpose. Floris 31st August 2003, 01:18 PM FlashFXP allows FXP connections too, and file priority and skipping of empty dirs and files, stuff that you really use. I had a CuteFTP license, but I think I sold it. And purchased FlashFXP with it :) Never changed back since. |
